Baden Named Official Ball of the Palmetto Region of USA Volleyball November 18, 2015

Baden’s premium leather and microfiber game volleyballs to be used exclusively in championship tournaments

RENTON, Wash. (Nov. 18, 2015) – Baden Sports, Inc., today announced it has been selected to provide the official ball to the Palmetto Region of USA Volleyball, whose more than 40 member clubs operate throughout South Carolina.

The multi-year adoption designates Baden’s Perfection® VX5EC and Lexum VX450C – the company’s highest-quality leather and microfiber game balls, respectively – as the official balls to be used exclusively in Palmetto Region championship tournaments.

“We’re excited to provide the official ball to the Palmetto Region and look forward to more and more players experiencing the Baden advantage,” said Matt Holm, Vice President of Business Development, Baden Sports. “We’re also eager to introduce club directors to our new customization program, which dramatically expands the custom options typically available within the industry.”

Baden’s new custom program, introduced earlier this year, provides point-of-production customization, enabling a greater range of options, including bigger designs, debossed logos and foiled detailing; each of a volleyball’s 18 panels could even be made a different color. And because Baden now owns the factory in the Dominican Republic where its game volleyballs have been manufactured for more than 25 years, custom balls can be produced with lead times as short as 45 days with minimum orders as low as six balls.

“Baden’s ability to deliver in all of the...

Seven-time NCAA national champion Nittany Lions to use Baden balls exclusively in all games, practices, tournaments and clinics

RENTON, Wash. (Oct. 6, 2015) – Baden Sports, Inc., announced it has been selected as the official ball supplier of the Pennsylvania State University women’s volleyball team. The Nittany Lions, winners of seven NCAA national championships – more than any women’s volleyball team in history – will use Baden volleyballs exclusively in all program activities including clinics, exhibitions, games, practices and tournaments, starting this year.

In his 37th season at the helm of the Nittany Lion women’s volleyball program, legendary head coach Russ Rose has guided the 2015 team to a 14-1 record and a 3-1 mark in Big Ten conference play this season. Atop the NCAA all-time list in career wins (1,175) and career winning percentage, Rose is one of only two active Division I women’s volleyball coaches with 1,000 or more career victories. Rose is also a five-time, American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Coach of the Year honoree.

Baden also served as Penn State’s official volleyball supplier in the 1990s. “Coach Rose is a proven winner. His passion for volleyball, leadership and ability to consistently get the most out of his players is unmatched in the sport,” said Michael Schindler, CEO, Baden Sports. “We’re excited to be working again with Penn State and look forward to providing...

Baden Renewed as Official Ball of Nebraska High Schools September 25, 2015

Baden athletic balls to continue being used exclusively in Nebraska high school championships in four sports

RENTON, Wash. (Sept. 25, 2015) – Baden Sports, Inc., today announced a multi-year agreement with the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) to continue supplying official game balls for all sanctioned NSAA events, including state championships, in basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball. The deal extends a relationship that began with the 2011-12 school year.

“Our support of high school sports in Nebraska has never been stronger,” said Michael Schindler, CEO, Baden Sports. “We look forward to continuing our work with the administrators and coaches throughout the state, and are confident – no matter the sport – that our products will continue to deliver the best possible playing experience for years to come.”

Basketball: The Elite™ Game Ball, model BX7E for boys or BX6E for girls, is Baden’s highest-quality game ball. Engineered for touch and consistency, it features a symmetrical design, the company’s proprietary Cushion Control Technology™ – which delivers a truer bounce and softer feel by embedding thousands of tiny air cells in the ball’s carcass – and the Stealth Soft-Valve System™, which softens the entire valve panel and nearly eliminates exposed valve rubber.

2016 Axe Bats Announced, Now Available for Pre-Order August 25, 2015

New lineup includes an asymmetric, composite-alloy hybrid barrel for improved balance, and vibration-dampening technology for greater comfort

RENTON, Wash. (Aug. 25, 2015) – Baden Sports, Inc., today announced a full line of aluminum, composite and wood Axe™ Bats for 2016, including a new vibration-dampening technology and the industry’s first asymmetric, composite-alloy hybrid barrel designed for one-sided hitting. All of the new bats can be pre-ordered now at, with availability starting Oct. 6.

The new composite-alloy hybrid barrel – named the HyperWhip™ Composite Cap – builds upon the breakthrough design of previous generations of the Axe™ Bat and advances Baden’s leadership in the development of directional hitting technologies. It debuts on the new Element HyperWhip™ L138D, a BBCOR-certified baseball bat for high school and college players.

Unlike conventional one-piece alloy bats, the Element HyperWhip™ L138D transitions from alloy to composite the last three inches of the barrel, eliminating the end cap.

All Axe™ Bats feature one-sided hitting; because of the way the patented, axe-shaped handle positions a batter’s hands, the same side of the barrel contacts the ball on every swing. The composite cap on the Element HyperWhip™ L138D takes advantage of this directional functionality, sloping away from the contact side of the barrel, thereby shaving unnecessary weight from the end of the bat. The result is the most balanced BBCOR bat in the Axe™ Bat lineup, an enlarged sweet spot and the precise ball-tracking players want in a one-piece...

Tigers’ women’s volleyball team to use Baden balls exclusively in camps, clinics, practices and non-conference home games

RENTON, Wash. (August 14, 2015) – Baden Sports, Inc., today announced an endorsement deal with University of Missouri women’s volleyball coach Wayne Kreklow, the 2013 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Coach of the Year. Under terms of the agreement, the Tigers will use Baden volleyballs exclusively in all camps, clinics, practices and non-conference home games, starting this year.

Kreklow, along with wife, Susan, formerly the head coach, now assistant coach, have built Missouri into a national power since they arrived in Columbia, Mo., in 2000, combining for 11 trips to the NCAA tournament and averaging 20 wins a year. The Tigers enjoyed their best season in program history in 2013, winning the school’s first SEC championship and becoming the first SEC team to go unbeaten through a regular season at 34-0. They finished the year ranked first nationally in hitting, kills, assists, wins and points per set. Last December, Missouri was named the sixth-best college in the nation for playing women’s volleyball by College Factual, which used “consistent excellence in the sport” as a key criterion.1

“Wayne and Susan Kreklow have done a remarkable job building the Missouri program and we’re excited to support their continued success,” said Michael Schindler, CEO, Baden Sports. “Our volleyballs are designed and manufactured for quality and performance, and we’re eager for everybody associated with the Tigers’ program – from campers to scholarship players – to...

Baden Sports, Axe Bat Named to Entrepreneur Magazine's 100 Brilliant Companies List for 2015 May 20, 2015

Ergonomic, performance-driven design earns Axe Bat a spot among this year’s trendsetters

RENTON, Wash. (May 19, 2015) – Baden Sports, Inc., today announced it has been selected as one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s “100 Brilliant Companies” of 2015 for its development of the Axe™ Bat, an ergonomically designed, performance-driven bat for baseball and softball. The magazine’s annual list, appearing in the June 2015 issue, recognizes companies “doing brilliant things, reinventing ideas and reimagining markets.”

“We’re honored to be included among Entrepreneur’s 100 Brilliant Companies,” said Michael Schindler, CEO, Baden Sports. “The Axe Bat proves that the old, accepted way of doing things isn’t always best. More and more, coaches and players are realizing that the traditional round knob does nothing to help the hitter, that it’s simply a remnant of a mass-production process that dictated that shape.”

The Axe™ Bat represents a revolutionary approach to hitting, with a patented shape that improves performance, promotes proper swing mechanics and allows players to train longer, safer. Scientific research has shown the ergonomic design of the axe-shaped handle provides better bat control, grip stability and power transfer, while also reducing the risk of hand and nerve injuries, compared to traditional bats with round knobs and handles.1 For added durability and performance, the Axe™ Bat features a directional barrel engineered for one-sided hitting, ensuring that everything, from the knob to the end cap, is designed to benefit the player.

The Axe™ Bat is approved for play at all levels of amateur and professional baseball and...
